I am writing to recommend the creation of a community watch list to keep our members safe from surreptitious researchers, time wasters, beggars, and other suspected svolochiya.
A watch list would serve as a tool for sellers to report suspicious user requests- like the common "I'm ready to buy but need to see a sample first" -
so the community can take action and prevent coplovers and tricksters.
It is important to allow members a channel to report suspicious actors in a timely manner in the fashion they construct against us.
This doesn't have to be limited to abuse of the sales threads, but in theory, also other alarming inconsistencies.
Case in point:
A user who reached out about access I had for sale and left a telegram contact that forgot to disassociate their affiliation with Palo Alto from the profile biography.
I will not name this user because I did not take proofs at the time. And that brings the next important thing, to distinguish between responsible disclosure and letting shit turn in to a "witch-hunt" or free-for-all.
A community watch list would allow community members to take action and ensure one another's safe being. It should not be a soapbox for vexing personal biases or disdain of others.
With that being said, this should serve as a way to build community cohesion, through sharing information, and getting to know your neighbours.
While this may require establishing protocols for how to respond to reports of suspicious activity, the overall net affect would be predominatly positive.
I believe a community watch list would be an effective tool in keeping our members safe from surreptitious "ne'er-do-wells" (as the crabs would say... *cough* fag *cough*).
I recommend that we move forward with it for our community. Please feel free to share your input.
