You don't need any alfa adapter to make a pentest of neighbors access points.
It's only enough to have a network-card which supports monitor mode.
Using wifite 2 from Kali is good idea, just rush the points where the WPS is turned on.
And it's also important to have a good signal for some of attacks in wifite.
You can also try to make a fake access point with the same name as the target.
But in this case it's required to have an adapter which could shut-up the original access point, to make a victim put his password in your access point with the same name manually.
