Github.com is you best freind you can search for sources and programming languages you understand you can find a lots , read source code carefully and if you find some thing you can't understand post the code in code section .

Reading wont help, he have to build everything from scratch to fall into problems and solve them, reading will just give him an idea of how the stealer work. Id prefer a google search for that
I Agree with you , to get skilled he have to code from scratch and solve problems , but this will come in step 2 the first step he need to read sources and see how stealers work how he decode and then decrypt the keys of browsers and decrypt cookies , logins , using zlib to zip the logs and use winsock or wininet to upload the file to server writing the code is the last step
