There is no best resource. All depends on your goals and platforms which you are interested in (OS, processor's arch). In general you will need to learn platform arch and instruction set basics with vendor documentation or books, targeted OS basics, compiler's code generation output, ABI - https://godbolt.org/ good resource for that. For malware reverse engineering the book above is a good start, but some tools are old and sometimes it's difficult to find them for labs (but you can use modern analogs). The basics described there are still relevant. Anyway, first of all you need to explain your goals.
