Does anyone have a good application to suggest which offers native support for G711 ULaw? Thanks in advance!

Latest version of Zoiper would be the best choice, this codec should come without buying the license.
3cx-lite also should support it.

asterisk, _ttps://www.asterisk.org/, almost all sip softphones

I would go that direction, but the trunk is hosted. On a side-note, wasn't there security issue with elastix that ships w/ the most recent supported release of FreePBX? Might be wrong about that though.

Yeah that's what I thought, too. No dice with the Free/IAX app, so bought the license which didn't have it, the Beta either. Have you got any of Bria utilities to work for you? X-Lite seems like the only product that wasn't complete dogshit but looking to avoid calls from the laptop.

Thanks for your suggestions

I'm not aware of any issues related to FreePBX, by default it enables a very robust firewall which should keep away majority of bots/exploiters (You can't hack me if you can't reach my server).
However, I recommend to ALWAYS configure the RESPONSIVE FIREWALL and whitelist your own addresses, so you can be sure that the DDNS/IP used by you/your customers won't get banned for failed authentications and shit.

If your goal is to use the softphone on a mobile device, then I suggest you take a look at this too: "Calls-SIP VoIP Softphone", in the description they state to support the codec you require so it might be worth a try.
I was also thinking you could try remodule the codec to a common one by using a Class 4 softswitch as "middleman".

For example: you connect the current trunk to VOS3000 with your required codec (G711 ULAW), create a new Routing Plan and the extensions from there.
If in the extensions you specify a different codec than the being used by the connected trunk, VOS should handle automatically the conversion between the client and the server.
