infiltrating networks backup storage

so I might have access to a network that makes daily backups to it's NAS. the only computer on the network, the hypervisor can access the backups, but I cannot currently access it. The software is seemingly fully patched[.] the hypervisor is not synced with AD and default credentials or anything obvious like that won't work. Not really sure what to try doing here to access those backups. Anyone have any suggestions?
