I am building a new computer and it is time to choose a graphics card. I am thinking between rtx 3070 or 3060ti, the use would be to mine ethereum and play a video game, is it worth paying more for the 3070?

did you decide? I'm looking at same scenario, ETH mining and gaming. 3070 are tougher to come by where I live, 3080's are way too expensive and I feel like 3060 doesn't give much of an improvement from 2080 I have.
for mining 3080 not lhr if best choise
I suppose you're right, I'd be using it for gaming most, mining when I'm not using the PC. But good point.

I have 3080 Ti and is great. Recommend RTX 3070 or higher for the long run./

The problem for mining with 3080 is the price of electricity, i think is more profitable with 3070 o 3060 ti. For gaming of course 3080 and 3080 ti you can play all with resolution 4k
3080 is preferred although a 3090 would be better.... I'd Avoid Gaming and Mining on 1 PC, Why Waste a graphics card to mine and play games? If you're mining you're basically letting the miner run non-stop trying to calculate blocks and then stopping it to play games, It would be more profitable to buy 2 Graphics cards. I'd Obviously run the Miner with a higher end Graphics card and run a smaller and less expensive one for my gaming PC Noting I'm at work or doing other important things.
Just a suggestion and my opinion take it or leave it. But as Vr1me0 says it's more expensive (Electricity Wise to mine with a 3080 or a 3090. 3070 Would be optimal but a 3060 would be cost efficient).
In my eyes it comes down to profit vs costs. If 1 Miner can make more then what you require to power it then go for it. The Higher the number on your PSU the better you'll save. I Run the best PSU to my miner.
I can't remember what it is, But It's not the best due to the fact it's only one miner running on a 3090.
I Have XMR Miners which are decent and cheap to run and profits come faster. Never done ETH and I don't bother diving that deep into cryptocurrency to give a care about anything more then what it costs me, How Much I'll make and is it worth it.
Either way I'd recommend at least a 3070 as it's the best of both worlds of cost vs payout. But I'd still recommend a seperate GPU/Setup for your Gaming rig.

So, how do you like your purchase? Is your 3070 worth it? My friend told me he wants to switch to a 3080 and I'm not sure it's worth it.
