This is a good reference. There might be newer models but very relevant to date.

A lot of beginners go for TP-Link as their first adapter, but there are multiple versions of it of which only one supports monitor mode & packet injection. This was my first mistake in choosing an adapter long ago..
Sometimes an adapter with monitor mode & packet injection gives problems when it comes to sniffing packets (promiscuous mode).

When buying, google each individual's review on monitor mode/packet injection/promiscuous mode individually

Generally speaking,

if you want better range, use 2.4 GHz. if you need higher performance or speed, use the 5GHz band.
5GHz band can cover through interference better as compared to 2.4
2.4 for a greater coverage area but prone to interference because more number of devices also use this (for example if you have more networks in your area, it might be a bit unstable)

Awus036nha, пользуюсь давно, с задачами справляется. Единственное нужно было регион перешить аппаратно (у оригинала в большинстве случаев GB зашит, до 21dBm). Но я думаю и софтовой подменой regdb (есть в aur пакет: wireless-regdb-pentest) можно обойтись для получения 30 dBm.

to be honest, im very new to the scene, this just seemed to be the correct place to ask the question. Im looking for wifi adapters for use accessing networks at a distance from me, for no purpose other than anonymity, and because I dont have my own wifi currently.
