Why tox is so used in forums like this? Why not session or briar ?

Why tox is preferred to session or briar [..etc] in forums like this? Briar and session are routed under tor by default, they are p2p based, censorship resistant etc.
Are there specific reasons why users in forum like these use tox?
people just really got used to tox since a long time, not everyone wants to migrate.

session and simplex route their traffic through their special nodes (which i think is not very powerful and safe than tor).
only p2p messenger with no special nodes between is better, which give choice to user to choose how they want to tunnel their traffic. user can choose vpn or tor or direct p2p.
Briar is a good fit, tox is good new messenger client is needed. i don't know any other messenger which offer direct p2p.

jabber is not safe, it is not e2e default, no p2p, metadata issue with server mitm. server in the middle owns your identity not you.
Maybe fork a jabber client and add p2p support to it?

In what universe signal is a privacy option

I was just adding some alternative options . I am curious about each of these in terms of both security and privacy .

they are p2p based
Session isn't P2P based, it's a federated block chain relay chain based chat messenger, it's E2E though.

It's good, but TOX in terms of privacy, usage and age. Is the preference of many users, its actually P2P. That's the feature many users like including myself, as for briar. It's very exotic, very less known.

It simply became a standard.
Is P2P, E2E by default, and is fully multiplatform. Running on any possible OS and type of device you can think of.
Too many various client apps ( which have both advantages and disadvantages )

Similar as earlier Jabber + Otr was standard

Cause for every OS and every differemt device there were many different clients.

Briar is better then Tox in my opinnion

But it's Linux version is still beta
For couple of years it didn't moved out of beta version

They are only focused on android app.
And as an app, as a single app, in terms of network protection, and app isolation, is by far best app for chat there is for Android & Graphene.

But that is limiting number of contacts you can have

People need the same app at diffrent platforms, not all contacts are standardized.
And most off, cyber crime people need something for pc.

In my opinion, Matrix can be a powerful and reliable messaging platform because of its decentralized nature and E2EE encryption. Additionally, we can bridge it to Jabber and use it seamlessly!
except so far 90+ % of all users are using same default server
Matrix.org

Which is using AWS

It kills the point of it being decentralized, federated, if almost everyone is at same server. And really, almost everyone

There is maybe 3-4 decent servers from the public ones, like nitro chat for example.

Is not like jabber where you have many hundreeds of servers

Yes, you are correct! However, as far as I have seen, ordinary users rarely use Jabber; their numbers are very few. But your point is absolutely correct regarding the usual use of a single server (matrix.org). However, we can have our own Matrix server and implement it using Synapse. But overall, DimmuBurgor point about Socket Runtime was also good and can work very well!

what do you think about Relay https://socketsupply.co/guides/
To be honest with you, Socket Runtime is really something else )))) because we can set up and control everything from scratch. We have complete control over everything. However, you know, since the discussion wasn't very technical, I suggested Matrix because it can provide a good and secure environment for users!
