Question About cooperate Networks and their IT infrastructures ?

It depends on the size of the corporation. Low budget usually run everything on hardware while mid-high tier usually have a mix towards more virtualized solutions.

The sector is also relevant from my point of view. A corporation dedicated to software and infrastructure management is not the same as a B2B or one dedicated to advertising. While the first will be easier to virtualize, the second will have to be much larger to have the same level of virtualization.

And IT providers also have a lot to say about it.

from my experience, most orgs still have a large amount of on premise infrastructure but today more and more things are hybrid on-prem/cloud solutions, most on premise infrastructure is virtualized and depending on industry must meet compliance requirements such as phasing out older versions of Windows Server such as 2012.

Depending on the industry it is common for specific infrastructure containing sensative info to require strict Privelleged Access policies in place that usually require authorization from key managment/security staff , with an increased focus on cloud infrastructure you will find that more things are likely to move that direction, think things like exchange online, Azure Intune device managment, Azure AD (EntraID fucking stupid name change) etc.

As mentioned by babyl0n larger orgs that have managed IT services provides, often have specific tools and technologies that they use and recomend to end customers, this is sometimes dictated by cost but also by what the MSP is partnered with and certified with as this is often a big thing. (eg would you trust somoene not familiar with windows server to setup a server for you ? )
