For updates, if you are using this software you should probably be able to figure it out. Anyone can get these all-2.0.tar.gz files for free from Tenable (nessus essentials and follow directions for offline update) (https://www.tenable.com/products/nessus/nessus-essentials) and you can see in the batch file what I'm doing so you can just replace the all-2.0.tar.gz file with a new one and edit the date in the plugin_feed_info.inc file and then run the crack.

This is the simple version of the instructions that includes the installer and the plugins update file. It is a simple procedure to do all of this including getting the software and updates, but it confuses people and I thought I'd try just bundling it all together like this.
1. run the installer Nessus-10.3.1-x64.msi
choose the defaults during the install and let it load "Compiling plugins..."
choose managed scanner, then pick tenable.sc, then set a username and password
nessus will again compile plugins
after nessus loads, close the browser
2. run the _crack.bat batch file as administrator
it should automatically stop the service, update plugins, fix permissions, etc
3. Open https://localhost:11123/ and log in
(or if set up on your vps, https://vps.ip.address:11123/)
NOTE that it takes a very long time for compiling plugins! That's Nessus.
4. Go to Settings -> Advanced, and disable telemtry and updates.
Set dark mode
Changing any settings will always cause Nessus to restart
and thus "compile" the plugins again taking a long time, but that's just the way it is.
