Well, the only way that seems to me to be, in which you can learn a new language is to surround yourself with everything that has the same language, for example listening to music in Russian, looking for the lyrics and trying to write them, try to read even if you don't know how nothing, learn to say basic words like hello, how each letter sounds, watch movies in that language, look for tutorials, etc.
come live in Russia
You can go to Russia and live there for a year, or you can look for a city with a large Russian population in your area

I think you should study more about the culture and language of Russia, and also practice communicating in Russian more by participating in Russian-speaking communities. There are also interesting sites for language practice like https://www.interpals.net/ and https://www.tandem.net/
"Comprehensible input" may be most fast.
baby steps. duolingo will only get you so far, probably most useful for vocabulary build up. start watching Russian movies with subs. start reading books - get yourself a baby book, no joke, and start reading simple phrases. then find yourself a Russian friend and talk, a lot. get TG account and listen to Russian news.

Duolingo is so good i use it to learn Russian but it will not teach you the alpha bet so i think if you want to go chat on Russian forum you maybe want to learn Russian alpha bet first
Learn basic, then listen to music and follow lyric. Think it is helpful to learn
speak to russians and they learn english from you.
From my experience to learning English: You should got a book about grammar and dictionaries, and try to talking on forums in Russian. Use simple, short phrases, iterate it on another resources and consider of an errors. Choose themes, where you has a good knowledge.

The real problem here is complexity - by FSI score it is category 3 in difficulty:
"Category III – Students usually need around 44 weeks or 1100 class hours to reach S-3/R-3. This is the largest group and contains a wide variety of languages,
including Russian, Hindi, Tamil, Thai, Vietnamese, Turkish, Finnish and many more. They are described as “hard languages”. S-3/R-3 is working level of the language.
1100 class hours - the FSI courses are total immersion, people sit there 5 days a week doing only language learning in small groups with highly qualified teachers.
So, once you decide you can dedicate few years of your free time to learning - courses are many, plus practice over Skype (including free in exchange for
practicing their English if you speak English). Duolingo is a waste of time - gamification aimed at making the hard task of learning language look "easy". You can finish it all,
know few hundreds words in Russian yet still not being able to ask where the toilet is.

Learn the basics first, language is only a form of expression, then deeply focus on Russian culture, values и substance are more important, the rest will come naturally

Start from something simple... for example learn how say "Hello!" in russian: "Вечер в хату!" (pron. Vecher v khatu!)

Why?
in the future we will not need to learn any language thanks to AI and large language models it will be so good and so easy to use you just speak your language and it will translate it in real time to the other person. that being said learning new languages is good for your brain and personal growth as well as to get familiar with the culture and people so if you want to live in Russia it is mandatory to learn it so you can communicate with the locals
