Hello all,
Forgive me if this isn't the correct place.
I have long been a lurker here as I do not have much input (yet!) and admire many of you for the hard work you guys create, complete, and innovate.
I have been around computers since 8 years old and fell in love. I'm currently studying database management systems having been fascinated by big data as a child. I have basic coding skills (I'm signing up for codeacademy if anyone has other suggestions to learn languages from scratch I'd love to hear them), and basic freelance experience ( designing websites etc).
Can anyone share your experiences with implementing and managing large-scale database systems?
What specifically would you recommend I study on my own?
How have NOSql databases affected your work compared to typical relational DBs?
Sorry for the peasantry type of questions but I hope to gain insight from experienced pros, not some competitor forums who know how to use nmap on there school network.
