Is it a good idea to exchange BTC into XMR and then back into another cryptocurrency? I've heard some people say that using mixers is a bad idea. What methods do you guys use to clean your cryptocurrency?

XMR is a red flag for most exchanges, you should better exchange your dirty bitcoins for a new freshly generated bitcoins from a miner.

A better and trustless way of improving fungibility is to instead
1. Use electrum wallet
2. Ideally use your own private electrum server if not only connect to electrum hidden services
3. Select the UTXO of the coin you wish to clean
4. open a lightning channel with the coin
5. perform a submarine swap using https://boltz.exchange/ (or using the menu within electrum) of lightning bitcoin to bitcoin
6. send the coin to a wallet with a different seed
The liquidity providers of these swap services have a very acceptable AML rating as the liquidity providers usually buy their bitcoin from KYC exchanges.

Он укажет на вас и уже в новостях США мы увидим, как задержали очередного хакера/кардера Василия в Испании и скоро его ждёт депортация...

I agree with h1z1 , but I think its a good idea to transfer it through 2~3 XMR wallets. So, convert BTC into XMR, create fresh wallets whenever you will do this again. A simple service to convert crypto is fixedfloat it dont even ask for registration.
if some one can trace 1 xmr wallet then can trace the other i no need for alot of washing the crypto this way will lose lots of money and same result .
just make sure don't use blockchain wallet when using non cleaned crypto
